1746-NI16V SLC 500 Analog I/O Module by Allen-Bradley
Product Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1746-NI16V is an analog I/O module for the SLC 500 system. It provides sixteen (16) input channels. This module accepts several voltage types. You can use ±10V dc, 1 to 5V dc, 0 to 5V dc, or 0 to 10V dc signals. It uses a sigma-delta conversion type. The resolution is 16 bits. This module offers high accuracy for demanding applications.
The 1746-NI16V fits into any I/O module slot except slot 0. It consumes 125 milliamps from the 5-volt backplane. It also needs 75 milliamps from the 24-volt DC backplane. The total power use is 2.425 Watts max. This module has a low-pass digital filter. You can program filter frequencies from 6 Hz to 250 Hz.

Application Scenarios
This module works well in many industrial settings. Use it for process control in manufacturing plants. It handles monitoring tasks in packaging lines. The module also works in material handling systems. It is approved for Class I Division 2 hazardous environments. This makes it safe for use in areas with flammable gases or vapors. The module supports combination 120 Volts AC I/O applications.
Technical Specifications
This module has a bandwidth of 6 to 250 Hertz. The step response ranges from 9 to 630 milliseconds. Input impedance is 20 Ω. The common mode voltage range is ±10.25 Volts. It offers 500V ac isolation for 1 second. The gain drift is 15 ppm per degree Celsius. The input offset drift is 90 mV per degree Celsius. The input resolution is 312 mV. The operating temperature range is -25 to 60 degrees Celsius. It works in 5% to 95% relative humidity without condensation.

The module uses a 25-pin D-shell AIFM connector. Recommended cable is Belden 8761 or equivalent. Standard cable lengths are 0.5, 1, 2.5, and 5.0 meters. It has five green LED indicators. One LED shows status for each group of four channels. Another LED shows the module status.
Installation & Maintenance Guide
Install the 1746-NI16V in any I/O slot except slot 0. Ensure the chassis power is off before insertion. Connect the wiring using the 25-pin D-shell connector. Use Belden 8761 cable for best signal quality. Check the filter frequency settings in your program. Set the frequency based on your application needs. Regularly inspect the module for dust or damage. Keep the module within the specified temperature range.
