1747-L552 Allen-Bradley SLC 5/05 Processor 32KB
Product Overview
The 1747-L552 is a processor from the SLC 500 family. It is part of the SLC 5/05 series by Allen-Bradley. This single-slot module connects directly to the backplane. It offers 32 KB of battery-backed RAM memory. The processor includes both Ethernet and RS-232 ports. Status LEDs let you monitor its state. It has an open-type enclosure and mounts in a chassis. Dimensions are 145 x 35 x 142 mm. The Ethernet connection supports BOOTP. It can handle up to 48 incoming or outgoing connections. Outgoing connections allow only one per destination node. Multiple MSG instructions share the same connection for the same node. The RS-232 port supports HMI communication. A flash backup memory is included. The user-replaceable lithium battery lasts about two years. A capacitor lets the processor run at least 30 minutes after battery disconnection. You must reconnect the battery within 30 minutes to keep RAM data.

Application Scenarios
This processor suits medium to large scale applications. It integrates machine-level control to the enterprise level. It is out-of-the-box ready for vertical integration with Ethernet. The RS-232 port works well for HMI on the same panel. You can control multiple small processes or a single large process. It supports remote I/O topology for strategic module placement. Use it for industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) requirements. It is ideal for systems needing both local and networked control.
Technical Specifications
The 1747-L552 has 32 KB user memory. It supports 4096 discrete inputs and 4096 discrete outputs. Analog I/O capacity is 480 points. Program scan time is 0.9 ms per K. I/O scan time is 0.225 ms. XIC bit execution is 0.37 µs. It can use up to 3 chassis with 30 slots. Maximum current draw is 1 A at 5 V DC. Operating temperature range is 0 to 60 °C. Storage temperature is -40 to 85 °C. Humidity range is 5 to 95% non-condensing. It withstands operating vibration of 0.015 inches displacement at 5-57 Hz and 2.5 G at 57-2000 Hz. Operating shock is 30 G. It supports 107 programming instructions. The processor holds up to 28K words for program and 4K words for data.

Installation & Maintenance Guide
Power off the system before adding or removing the module. Insert the 1747-L552 into any slot in the SLC 500 chassis. Ensure the backplane connection is secure. Connect Ethernet cable for network communication. Use the RS-232 port for local HMI. Replace the lithium battery every two years. The battery is user-replaceable. If you remove the battery, the capacitor keeps the processor running for 30 minutes. Reconnect the battery within that time to avoid data loss. For shipping, use FedEx, UPS, or DHL. Keep the module in an antistatic bag.
