Precision Motion Control for the PLC 5 Platform
The Allen-Bradley 1771-HSAR is a dedicated IMC servo controller module. It integrates directly into the PLC 5 chassis for coordinated motion. This module handles high-speed feedback with a 250 kilohertz differential input. It delivers precise analog commands at +/- 10 Volts DC to your servo drives.
Essential Installation and Connection Guide
Power and Backplane Setup
You must power the 1771-HSAR using a 120/220 Volts AC supply. Connect this power via the 1771-CAS cable to the controller’s power connector. The module draws 1.7 Amperes from the backplane. It requires two slots per ES module in the rack.

Memory and Data Retention
The controller ships with a 96-KB lithium battery memory cartridge. This component stores the application programs and AMP parameters. The battery typically lasts for 3 years. It can reliably back up the memory module for up to 10 years.
Signal Wiring and Auxiliary Feedback
The 1771-HSAR provides a 15-pin AUX FDBK connector. You use this port to power an auxiliary encoder. It also receives feedback from the encoder and a resolver rotor.

Programming and Diagnostics Interface
The module includes a 9-pin RS-232 connector. You use this port to test and debug MML programs. This interface allows you to download and upload AMP parameters. Connect the 1771-CT50 cable for offline development with T35 or T50 systems.
Axis Safety and Parameter Adjustment
An Axis E-Stop connector cable (1771-CAP) connects to the termination panel. This provides a dedicated safety circuit for the axis. You can connect a Hand-Held pendant for convenient modification of variables. The module's update period runs at 2 ms/axis.
