The Allen-Bradley 1747-SN is a Remote I/O Scanner module for SLC 500 systems. It manages high-speed data transfer between processors, HMIs, and other automation devices. It can handle up to 16 devices in normal mode and 32 in complementary mode.

Installation & Maintenance Guide

Install the 1747-SN in a SLC 500 chassis slot. Set the baud rate using DIP switches 1 and 2. Connect the RIO cable to the 3-pin terminal. Use Belden 9463 cable for best performance. Terminate both ends with an 82-ohm resistor. Ensure cable length does not exceed 3048 meters. For 230.4 kbaud operation, limit length to 762 meters. Avoid condensation and keep within operating temperature range. No special maintenance is needed beyond periodic inspection of connections.
