Allen-Bradley 1762-IR4 RTD Input Module 4 Channel MicroLogix
Product Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1762-IR4 is a four-channel RTD and resistance input module. It works with MicroLogix 1100, 1200, and 1400 controllers. The module connects to 2-wire, 3-wire, and 4-wire RTDs. It also accepts 2-wire and 3-wire resistance devices. Compatible RTD types include 100 Ohm Platinum 385, 200 Ohm, 500 Ohm, and 1000 Ohm Platinum 385. It also supports 100, 200, 500, 1000 Ohm Platinum 3916. Other options are 10 Ohm Copper 426, 120 Ohm Nickel 672, 120 Ohm Nickel 618, and 604 Ohm Nickel-Iron 518. Resistance ranges are 0 to 150 Ohms, 0 to 500 Ohms, 0 to 1000 Ohms, and 0 to 3000 Ohms. The module uses six input words and five configuration words. It performs Sigma-Delta conversion. Data formats include raw/proportional, engineering units x1, engineering units x10, scaled-for-PID, and percent full scale. Input filters are 10 Hz, 50 Hz, 60 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz, and 1 kHz. The module update time varies by filter and channel count. It has autocalibration and lead wire compensation. Power dissipation is 1.5 Watts. Dimensions are 90 x 87 x 40 mm. Mounting can be DIN rail or panel. The module receives 5V and 24V DC via the bus interface. A finger-safe cover protects the wiring.

Application Scenarios
The 1762-IR4 is designed for temperature measurement using RTDs. It also monitors displacement of mechanical devices. Typical applications include industrial process control and machinery monitoring. The module is an expansion for MicroLogix controllers. It must be installed in non-hazardous, dry, and clean environments. Keep it away from electrical noise and heat sources. Safety circuits should be wired in series to the master relay. Always stand away from equipment during troubleshooting. Check for program changes before starting maintenance.
Technical Specifications
The module has four inputs with heat dissipation of 1.5 Watts. It uses a Sigma-Delta converter type. Resolution depends on the input filter and configuration. The module performs both module and channel diagnostics. Autocalibration runs on channel enable or every 5 minutes. The fastest update time uses one channel with a 1 kHz filter. The slowest update uses all six channels with a 10 Hz filter. Lead wire compensation increases update time.

Installation & Maintenance Guide
Install the module in a suitable location. Wire safety circuits in series to the master relay. For configuration, set each channel after installation. Use a finger-safe cover for terminal blocks. Do not touch equipment during troubleshooting. Always verify any program changes before proceeding. The module auto-calibrates on channel enable. You can also program it to calibrate every 5 minutes. Ensure the environment is free from electrical noise and heat. The module communicates via the 1762 bus interface.
