The 1794-IRT8 module delivers precise temperature measurement for demanding industrial processes. It offers a 14-bit resolution for accurate data conversion. This module supports both RTD and thermocouple sensors. Engineers can select from multiple data formats easily. These formats include °C, °F, and °K with implied decimals. The module also supports -32767 to +32767 and 0 to 65535. You can also choose 0 to 5000 ohms for RTD mode. For mV mode, the range extends from -4000 to +10000.
This device features an impressive accuracy specification. In mV mode with filtering, it achieves 0.05% of full range. Without filtering, hardware accuracy remains at 0.10% of full range. This precision makes the module ideal for critical temperature loops. The module operates with a nominal voltage of 24 Volts DC. It provides eight analog inputs for sensor connectivity. Each channel can connect to a 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire RTD.
The 1794-IRT8 includes powerful diagnostic functions for system reliability. It features open circuit detection for both RTD and thermocouple modes. When an open input occurs, the module reading upscales to max value. The open input detection time is just 2 scans. An overvoltage capability of 15V DC continuous at 25 °C is present. This capability protects the module from signal line faults.
Procurement & Application Guide
For precise thermocouple wiring, use wires specified by the TC manufacturer. For millivolt signals, the recommended cable is Belden 8761. The module requires a compatible terminal base for operation. Use terminal base models 1794-TB3G, 1794-TB3GS, or 1794-TB3GK. The module mounts easily on a standard DIN rail. This module ships with two cold junction compensators for enhanced accuracy. The compensators increase thermocouple measurement precision significantly.
The supported sensor types cover a wide industrial range. RTD sensors include 100 Ohm Platinum European and US curves. It also supports 200, 500 Ohm Platinum, Nickel, and Copper sensors. Thermocouple types include B, E, J, K, TXK/XK(L), N, R, S, and T. The module has an operating temperature of 0 to 55 °C. It can withstand 5g vibration from 10 to 500 Hz. Operating shock rating is 30g for robust industrial environments.
